School Values

Respect

Respect means that you accept people for who they are, even when they're different from you or have a different viewpoint. When our school community shows respect it builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing for all our school community.

The colour purple was chosen for our value of respect as it is a colour of faith. It is special during the time of Lent and Advent, times of waiting and respect in our Church. It is a reminder that Jesus is our teacher and through scripture he constantly shows us how to show respect to others and our world.

Integrity

Integrity is doing the right thing even when it's hard or when no one is looking. When our school community shows Integrity, when we act in ways that are consistent with our values.

The colour green was chosen because it reminds us that we are doing the right thing. Green is a colour that reminds us that we need to move forward and stand up for what is right.

Compassion

Compassion is caring about others and helping others when they need help. When our school community shows compassion, it means we recognise the importance of other peoples’ feelings and take care not to hurt others by words or actions.

The colour pink was chosen as the colour of love. It reminds us, that to be people of compassion we need to love one another. Jesus asks us to love one another and to show forgiveness.

Excellence

Striving for excellence means being the best version of yourself in all situations.  When our school community strives for excellence, we are always thinking on where we are currently, what the next step is, and how we can achieve the next step to the best of our ability.

The colour blue was chosen because it represents striving to achieve at the highest level. To accept a challenge and to remember the sky is the limit. At St Margaret Mary’s we try to be the best people we can be.

The design for our St Margaret Mary’s Values posters were created from a past student’s design. When Amelie N was in Year 5, she won the school competition for the Value Posters. Her designs were then used by a graphic designer to create the final designs.
