Get Involved

St Margaret Mary’s values the contributions of all members of the community and aim to work in partnership with the families, parishioners and our wider community to ensure rich learning experiences and valuable community engagement.

Fundraising and Social Group

The Fundraising and Social Group (FSG) and the Advisory Board work with the Leadership Team to plan and execute activities aligned with our goals and contributing to our overall success.

The FSG supports the school with fundraising and social events that bring our community together, create opportunities for families to connect and raise funds for the school.

Members volunteer their time and expertise to deliver activities throughout the year such as:

  • The St Margaret Mary’s Trivia night

  • AFL Footy Tipping Competition

  • Easter raffle

  • School discos

  • Mother’s and Father’s Day celebrations

  • Mum’s Night Out

  • Family movie nights

  • School Colour run

The efforts of the volunteer group help to build a better environment for the children and the school is exceptionally grateful for all that members do for us. The FSG welcomes new members at any time throughout the year.

Parent helpers

We are privileged to have the help of parents and families who support our school. Parent helpers can commit regular hours each week or help out for a specific event or purpose where their skills can be applied. If you do wish to help out, there is no minimum commitment.

Parent helpers are welcome in the following areas:

  • Assisting in classrooms, on excursions, sporting events and other occasions

  • Assisting our library service (covering new library books, shelving returned books)

  • Maintaining and replenishing school buildings and grounds at our scheduled working bees

If you are interested in becoming a parent helper, we require you to have a volunteers Working With Children’s Check which can be obtained free of charge.

School Advisory Council

The School Advisory Council (SAC) at St Margaret Mary’s, Spotswood is a consultative group that supports the principal and parish priest in nurturing the life and direction of our school. Made up of parents, parish representatives and school leaders, the SAC provides a forum for collaboration, shared reflection and thoughtful discussion on matters that impact our school community.

The council offers advice on areas such as school improvement, strategic planning, faith development and community engagement. While it does not manage day-to-day operations or make governance decisions, the SAC plays an important role in ensuring the voices of families and the parish are heard and considered.

Grounded in our Catholic mission, the School Advisory Council helps strengthen partnerships between home, school and parish, supporting the ongoing growth of St Margaret Mary’s as a welcoming, faith-filled learning community.

The 2026 School Advisory Council members are Colleen McCambridge (Principal), Paul Smith (Deputy Principal), Fr Samuel Kapani (Parish Priest), Andrew Bryson, Kelley Revelman, Charlotte Frith and Victoria Findlay.
