Music

At St Margaret Mary’s, we believe that Music is a powerful and enriching part of every child’s education. Our Music program nurtures creativity, confidence and self-expression, while helping students develop essential listening, coordination and collaboration skills.

Our specialist Music teacher, Alicia Wilson, brings passion, expertise and energy to every lesson. Alicia creates a welcoming and engaging environment where students from Foundation to Year 6 are encouraged to explore, perform and appreciate music in its many forms.

Through singing, movement, rhythm, instrumental exploration and music-making, students develop an understanding of beat, melody, harmony and musical structure. Lessons are hands-on and inclusive, allowing students of all abilities to participate, succeed and grow in confidence.

The Music program supports learning across the curriculum by strengthening literacy, numeracy, memory and social skills, while also fostering emotional expression and wellbeing. Students learn to work both independently and collaboratively, building teamwork and performance skills in a supportive setting.

Aligned with our school values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence, Music at St Margaret Mary’s encourages students to appreciate diverse musical cultures, express themselves creatively, and develop a lifelong love of music. Under Alicia’s guidance, every child is given the opportunity to discover their musical voice and experience the joy of making music together.
