At our school, leadership is grounded in our core values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence. We believe every child has the capacity to lead, and from Foundation to Year 6, students are supported to grow as confident, responsible and service-oriented members of our community.
Leadership is not simply about titles – it is about how we act, how we treat others and how we strive to make a positive difference.
Leadership for All (Foundation – Year 6)
Leadership begins in the classroom and extends across all aspects of school life. Every student is encouraged to:
- Show respect in their words and actions
- Demonstrate integrity by doing what is right, even when no one is watching
- Act with compassion towards others
- Strive for excellence in learning and personal growth
Through classroom responsibilities, collaborative learning, buddy programs and whole-school initiatives, students develop the confidence and skills to lead in everyday ways. We believe leadership is built through opportunity, encouragement and example.
Student Representative Council (Foundation – Year 6)
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) ensures student voice is valued and heard. Representatives are elected by their peers, providing an authentic opportunity to practise leadership with integrity and respect.
SRC members:
- Represent student ideas and perspectives
- Contribute to school decision-making
- Help organise events and initiatives
- Support fundraising and service opportunities
Through their role, students learn the importance of responsible leadership and working collaboratively for the benefit of all.
Leadership (Year 6)
In Year 6, leadership becomes more formalised, with students elected by their peers into key roles. These positions reflect our commitment to service and to living our values visibly within and beyond our school.
School Captains
School Captains act as ambassadors for our school. They represent the student body at assemblies and special events, welcome visitors and model positive behaviour and a strong commitment to learning. They work closely with staff to support whole-school initiatives and foster school pride.
Liturgy Captains
Liturgy Captains support the spiritual life of the school. They assist in preparing and leading liturgies, prayer services and faith celebrations, helping students engage thoughtfully and respectfully in these experiences.
Environment Captains
Environment Captains promote sustainability and care for our environment. They lead environmental initiatives, support waste-reduction and recycling programs, and encourage students to take practical action in caring for our shared spaces.
Wellbeing Captains
Wellbeing Captains help nurture a positive and inclusive school culture. They promote kindness, encourage respectful relationships and support initiatives that strengthen student wellbeing across the school.
Leadership Through Service
Service is at the heart of our leadership program. We believe leadership is most meaningful when it extends beyond the classroom and becomes outward facing, directed towards the wellbeing of others and the strengthening of our wider community.
Students are encouraged to look beyond themselves and recognise where they can make a positive contribution. Through fundraising initiatives, environmental action, community partnerships and outreach projects, our leaders learn that even small actions can have a significant impact.
An outward-facing approach to leadership fosters empathy, social awareness and a strong sense of shared responsibility. It empowers students to act with generosity and purpose, understanding that leadership is not about recognition, but about making a meaningful difference.
